Map your garden — introducing the Layout Designer

Before you can track what's growing where, you need to know where "where" is. Today we're shipping the Layout Designer — a visual tool for mapping your beds, borders, and containers.

Veggie Bed 1
2.4 × 1.2 m
Veggie Bed 2
2.4 × 1.2 m

Raised Bed

The Layout Designer lets you draw your garden to scale. Add rectangular or freeform beds, label them, set their dimensions, and arrange them to match what's actually on the ground. It's not a CAD tool — it's a quick sketch that gives your plantings a home.

Before
  • "the north veggie patch"
  • "the raised bed near the fence"
  • "the pots by the back door"
  • No rotation history
  • Paper diagrams that get lost
After
  • Named, dimensioned beds
  • Every planting pinned to a location
  • Full history per bed, per season
  • Rotation patterns at a glance
  • Always in your pocket

Once your beds are mapped, every planting you add can be pinned to a specific location. That makes your garden history spatial: you can see what grew in each bed by season, track rotation patterns, and plan ahead without relying on memory or paper notes.

The designer works on desktop and tablet. We've optimised the drag-and-drop for touch screens, so if you like planning with an iPad in the garden that works too. Version two will add bed templates for common layouts and the ability to attach photos to specific locations.
