Frequently Asked Questions
Setup & accounts
Why is my weather widget empty?
Your property needs GPS coordinates to fetch weather. Edit your property and ensure a full street address is entered — coordinates are resolved automatically on save. See Properties & Location.
Can I share my garden data with my partner?
Yes. Go to Settings → Household, copy your invite code, and have them join using that code from their own account. Once joined, all household-visible data is shared. See Household & Sharing.
How do I change between metric and imperial?
Go to Settings → Profile and change the unit system. It updates across the entire app immediately. See Settings & Preferences.
Gardens & structure
What's the difference between a garden and a bed?
A garden is a named zone on your property ("vegie patch", "orchard"). A bed is a specific planting surface within that zone ("raised bed 1", "25L pot"). See Understanding the Hierarchy.
Should I add 10 petunias as 10 plantings or one?
One planting with a quantity of 10. A planting represents a crop in a bed. Set the quantity field for multiples of the same plant in the same spot. Don't create 10 separate records for 10 identical plants in one row. See Plantings.
When should I mark a planting as finished?
When the crop is removed from the bed. Marking it finished removes it from your active plantings and AI briefing, while preserving all its history in reports and bed rotation records.
AI & briefings
My AI briefing is a week old and not updating.
Briefings cache for 7 days to reduce generation costs. Hit Regenerate on the dashboard to force a fresh one immediately.
The AI briefing is giving vague, generic advice.
The briefing quality scales with your data. Make sure you have active plantings with accurate sow dates, specific bed names, and a property with coordinates for weather context. See AI Weekly Briefing.
Is my data sent to the AI?
Only garden context is sent: plant names, weather data, your location name, and current season. Your personal details (name, email, full address) are never sent to the AI provider. See How AI Features Work.
Plants & library
The plant I want isn't in the library.
Type a custom common name when adding a planting — you can still track it fully with harvests, events, and notes. The plant will be added to the library queue for future AI enrichment.
I see a confidence score on a plant profile. What does it mean?
AI-enriched plant data carries a confidence score (0.0–1.0). A score above 0.85 is high confidence. Below 0.70 means the data should be treated as a starting point — check a dedicated reference if precision matters. See Plant Library.
Weather
How far back does weather history go?
Up to 3 months, populated automatically from the ERA5 climate archive when you add a property. You can view it at Reports → Weather history.
Where does the weather data come from?
Open-Meteo — a free, open-source weather API using global weather models. No account or API key is required. It works automatically from your property's coordinates.
Dashboard
Some cards are missing from my dashboard — where did they go?
Check the Hidden cards tray — it appears below the layout when you're in edit mode (click Customise). If the card isn't there either, it may be a library card. Open Customise → + Add cards to find it and add it. See Card Library.
I added a card from the library but it's blank.
Most cards show a clear empty state when there's no data to display. For example, Harvest ready soon shows nothing if no plantings have an expected harvest date set. The card is working correctly — it just needs data. See Card Library for what each card requires.
The Companion suggestions card shows the same content every day.
AI dashboard cards cache their output for 24 hours. Click Regenerate on the card to generate fresh suggestions — useful after adding new plantings. See AI Dashboard Cards.
The Pest & disease watch card says "Low risk" even though I can see pests.
This card uses weather conditions to flag likely risks — it doesn't observe your garden directly. If you spot a pest, log it as a planting event or quick log entry. The card is a proactive early-warning signal, not a real-time detector. See AI Dashboard Cards.
How do I get the same default property to load on all my devices?
Go to Settings → Profile → Default property and save your preferred property. This default applies whenever no session cookie is active — such as when opening the app on a new device or after clearing browser data. See Settings & Preferences.
Can I resize cards on mobile?
Edit mode is available on mobile. However, fractional-width cards — half, third, quarter, sixth — automatically collapse to full width on small screens regardless of the size setting. This keeps the layout readable. The size setting is preserved and applied again on larger screens. See Customising Your Dashboard.
