Navigating the App
MyPlot's sidebar organises everything into sections. It's designed to stay compact by showing only what's relevant to where you are — while keeping the most-used areas always visible.
Sidebar sections
| Section | What's in it | Default behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| Main | Dashboard, Quick Log, Walk Session | Always open |
| Places | Properties, Gardens, Beds, Plantings, Plant Library | Always open |
| Activity | Harvests, Reminders, Plans | Open when you're in this area |
| Reports & Insights | Harvest reports, Bed history, Weather history, Weekly briefings | Open when you're in this area |
| Admin | User management, Plant library admin, AI usage | Open when you're in this area (admins only) |
Smart collapse
Activity, Reports & Insights, and Admin automatically collapse when you navigate away from them. This keeps the sidebar short without requiring you to manage it manually.
When it opens automatically
- Navigate to any page in a section
- That section expands in the sidebar
- You can see all the links inside it
When it closes automatically
- Navigate to a page in a different section
- The previous section collapses
- The new section opens in its place
Main and Places are always open — they contain the most frequently used links and never collapse, regardless of where you are in the app.
Manually opening a section
You can click any section header to toggle it open or closed within the current page. The section resets to its automatic state when you navigate to a new page.
Hover flyout
When a section is collapsed, hovering over its header shows a small flyout menu with all the links inside — so you can jump to any page without expanding the section first.
