Plans
Plans are your forward-looking planting calendar. Think through what you want to grow and when, before you commit to the soil. When you're ready, convert plan items directly into live plantings.
What a plan contains
A plan has a name, a garden, a season (e.g. "Winter 2026"), and optional start/end dates. Within a plan, you add plan items — each item is a plant + bed + target sow date combination.

Creating a plan
- Go to Plans in the sidebar and click New plan.
- Name the plan and select which garden it covers.
- Optionally set a season name and date range.
- Save, then add plan items from the plan detail page.
- For each item: select a plant, a bed, and a target sow date.
Converting a plan item to a planting
When you're ready to actually sow, open the plan item and click Convert to planting. This creates a live planting record with the bed and plant already filled in — you just confirm the actual sow date. The plan item is then linked to the live planting.
Plan statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Planning in progress — items are not yet final |
| Active | The current plan you're working from this season |
| Completed | All plan items have been actioned or the season has passed |
Tip: Plans are especially useful for succession planting — mapping out staggered sow dates for the same crop (lettuce every 3 weeks) so you don't get a glut and then a gap.
