Voice-first garden logging
Walk Session

Walk your garden, speak what you see, and let MyPlot record it. Walk Session turns your voice into structured garden entries — no typing, no unlocking your phone between plants.

What Walk Session does

Walk Session listens as you walk through your garden and speak naturally. You might say "planted a fig tree" or "noticed aphids on the tomatoes". When you're done walking, AI classifies each thing you said into the right action type, you review and confirm, and everything is saved in one go.

1
Choose garden
Select which garden you're walking. This helps AI recognise your plant names.
2
Speak freely
Tap the mic and talk. Each sentence becomes a card. Tap Stop when you're done.
3
Review entries
AI classifies each entry. Check the action types, edit text if needed, remove anything wrong.
4
Save
One tap saves everything. Planted items create real planting records. All others log as activity.
Best used as: your garden diary. A quick 5-minute walk while the kettle boils gives you a week's worth of activity data, which feeds the AI briefing, reminder suggestions, and planting history.
Step-by-step walkthrough

pruned the apple tree back a bit…
planted a fig tree near the fence

Speak one thing at a time, naturally. Each recognised sentence appears as a card. You can:

  • Edit a card by tapping into the text field
  • Remove a card using the × button
  • Pause/resume by tapping the Stop / Resume button at the top
  • Keep walking and speaking — cards stack up as you go
Note: Walk Session uses your device's built-in speech recognition (Google on Android, Apple on iPhone). It requires microphone permission and an internet connection.

Step 3 — Review AI classifications

Review panel — AI has classified each entry
Review each entry, then save.
planted a fig tree near the fence
watered the whole orchard this morning
noticed some scale on the olive leaves
pruned the apple tree back a bit
Save
Discard all

AI analyses your entries and suggests an action type for each one. Review them before saving:

  • If the type is wrong, change it using the dropdown on that card
  • Once you change a type, all subsequent cards default to the same type — handy if you're doing a planting run
  • Remove any entry you don't want saved by tapping ×
  • Edit the text of any card by tapping into it

Step 4 — Saved

Done screen — entries saved
4 items saved.

WATERED whole orchard
OBSERVED scale on olive

Action types explained

Each entry is saved as one of these types. AI picks the best match — you can override in the review step.

TypeWhat it savesExample phrase
Planted Creates a new planting record matched to the plant database. Appears on the garden detail page and reminders. "planted two cherry trees along the fence"
Watered Logs a watering activity against the garden. "watered the whole veggie bed"
Harvested Logs a harvest event. Add weight or count in the text for best results. "harvested a big bag of zucchini"
Pruned Logs a prune event against the garden or specific plant. "pruned the apple tree, opened up the canopy"
Fertilised Logs a feeding event. "applied Osmocote to the citrus"
Observed / Noted Logs a free-text observation or note. Good for pest sightings, weather, anything else. "scale insects on the olive again" / "soil looks dry near the roses"
Inspected Logs a pest or health inspection. "checked under the brassica leaves for caterpillars"
Mulched / Sprayed / Removed Logs the specific maintenance action. "mulched the whole fruit tree area" / "removed the dead cucumber plant"
How "Planted" entries work

Planted entries are special — they don't just log an activity, they create an actual planting record in your garden. MyPlot looks up the plant name against the Plant Library and links it to the right profile.

You say
"planted a fig tree near the south fence"
MyPlot resolves
Matches "fig tree" → Ficus carica in Plant Library
Result
New planting record created, linked to Fig profile, dated today
Tip: Speak the common name naturally — "apple tree", "cherry", "zucchini". MyPlot strips filler words like "a", "the", "tree", "shrub" and matches against the plant database automatically. If there's any ambiguity, AI picks the best match from candidates.

After saving, your new planting appears on the garden detail page and is immediately available for reminders, AI summaries, and the briefing.

Tips for best results

✓ Works well

  • One thing per sentence — "pruned the apple tree" then pause
  • Mention the plant name — "watered the tomatoes" not "watered it"
  • Be specific — "harvested 2kg of lemons" gives better history
  • Use natural language — AI understands "a bit leggy" and "covered in bugs"
  • Keep walking — you can add 20+ entries in a single session

✗ Watch out for

  • Background noise — wind and garden tools can mis-transcribe
  • Rushing multiple things together in one sentence
  • Very long run-on sentences — break them up
  • Speaking too quietly — hold phone closer in windy conditions
